Winterizing

Sunday, December 27th, 2009

Winter is in full force here in the Midwest. The snow has been flying and the wind has been howling and the rain and ice have been falling. Hopefully those of you with garden ponds already have your pond pumps winterized! It looks to be a wintery winter and winterizing your bird and suet feeders is a good idea, too. Make sure you are well stocked on bird feed including high oil sunflower. Make or buy lots of suet cakes to put in you suet holders. Suet is a great way to give birds the extra energy they need during the cold months. There are lots of suet recipes out there if you want to make your own suet. You can even make pine cone suet feeders. Just spread peanutbutter on pine cones and roll in bird seed. The birds love them!
